Cash Flow and a Curmudgeon In a Coffin?

Problem:  1.) We are all victims and 2.) Rich people have money we do not have.

Solution:  If we could just induce the rich to stand on their heads without getting directly involved we could have a redistribution of wealth without picking their pockets.  We do want to appear progressive and respectable at the same time.

Smart Money Talks, Greed Walks

Milton Friedman, an American economist and Nobel Prize Winner, talks about greed.

The redistribution of wealth touted by Obama and progressives is actually a government distribution of the greed and envy that some people hold towards others who they consider are better off.

Stolen Goods

The American economist and academic, Walter Williams, talks about redistribution of wealth:

“A right, such as a right to free speech, imposes no obligation on another, except that of non-interference. The so-called right to health care, food or housing, whether a person can afford it or not, is something entirely different; it does impose an obligation on another. If one person has a right to something he didn’t produce, simultaneously and of necessity it means that some other person does not have right to something he did produce. That’s because, since there’s no Santa Claus or Tooth Fairy, in order for government to give one American a dollar, it must, through intimidation, threats and coercion, confiscate that dollar from some other American.”

“No human should be coerced by the state to bear the medical expense, or any other expense, for his fellow man. In other words, the forcible use of one person to serve the purposes of another is morally offensive.”

“For the most part, income is a result of one’s productivity and the value that people place on that productivity.”

“One of the wonderful things about free markets is that the path to greater wealth comes not from looting, plundering and enslaving one’s fellow man, as it has throughout most of human history, but by serving and pleasing him.”

“People who denounce the free market and voluntary exchange, and are for control and coercion, believe they have more intelligence and superior wisdom to the masses. What’s more, they believe they’ve been ordained to forcibly impose that wisdom on the rest of us. Of course, they have what they consider good reasons for doing so, but every tyrant that has ever existed has had what he believed were good reasons for restricting the liberty of others.”

A Turn For The Worse

This morning on my way to the office I was walking toward the corner of Wabash and Monroe when I noticed a milk truck pass me. The sign on the back of the milk truck: “Let me be your milkman.” At the next corner, the milk truck started to make a right turn onto Wabash off of Monroe. Mid turn a Traffic Management person yelled “Stop” at the driver. The truck’s passenger side window was open so the driver heard the command and stopped the truck. Between the truck’s passenger side and the traffic woman stood a steel I-beam supporting the elevated tracks for the Loop EL train. The traffic woman and the truck’s driver talked back and forth through the open window. I approached the corner where they were talking and then I walked past the truck, across Wabash. As I did I heard the truck move forward behind me. I heard the traffic lady yelling stridently and the sound of metal and glass crashing to the ground.

I turned around when I heard the crunching, grating, snapping sound. The truck driver had broken off the passenger side rear view mirror during his right turn. He completely disregarded the traffic woman’s directions. The driver, an African-American man about thirty years old jumped out of the truck to look at the damage. At this point, I reached my building and went in.

Having considered this for even a moment, I see this incident as analogous to the Obama administration: consider the milk truck, the milk man, the words, “Let me be your milk man.”; consider the wreckage, the deafness to common sense direction, the defiance of continuing to drive forward without caring about the consequences. This incident is a metaphor of the progressive folly being imposed on us by the current administration.

In Obama world, the world of the great progressive thinkers, the circumstances would be at fault. The truck driver is a victim. The beam, the existing structure would be to blame for what happened. The I-beam would be considered as unyielding, stubborn, Republican, pre-existing and therefore someone else’s fault. The I-beam would probably be even considered racist in nature for not submitting to such a right turn. Or, the incident could just as easily be considered a class warfare issue: someone in the universe has more money than the person driving the truck. The rich should pay for the mirror.

This is the world we live in today: progressivism is now shown to be a moving forward at all costs despite common wisdom. The past (the rear view mirror) is not to be taken into account. All of this while making sure that someone or something else is to blame for what happens along the way.

Take A Number

Huh? People voted for Obama and a progressive agenda. Now we will reap what they have sown: a dystopian world.  The National Health Care system does not care about humans.  It only cares about numbers. Political Correctness only cares to make itself heard and no one else; Homosexual ‘marriage’ is the de-humanization of marriage into something unnatural and perverse.  Homosexuality is something even animals wouldn’t do. Abortion continues to murder innocent children for the sake of a woman’s choice. The woman will not give her unborn child liberty.  Save the whales but not the babies.  The list of progressive absurdities is growing daily.  What was that?  Freedom is Slavery?

Voting for Obama and the progressive agenda is voting your liberty away.  It is handing your liberty over to the government; a government that you simplistically believe will be  beneficent and altruistic, a government that you believe will have your best interest at heart.  We, the ‘benefactors’ of all of government’s ‘goodness’,  are now being told to bend over and take ‘it’ like good Americans (Joe Biden:   “…paying more in taxes is the patriotic thing to do…”).  We are now paying cash (taxes) for clunker government. Liberty is being traded for a false sense of security, for unbalanced justice and for a promised peace of mind.

When you Think Progess, you believe you are thinking of utopia or the Garden of Eden or a socialized gospel or just plain fairness.   But, ultimately you will have to think of control.  Control is the only means to obtain a collective ‘perfect’ world. In the end, you will be handing control of your life over to a handful of people in power (e.g., labor unions).  You will be making yourself and others just numbers on a bottom line.  Life as we know it will become de-humanized; you will become your SSN: 198-419-8419.

Outside the Beltway BO(X)

The word “hope”, used by BO in his pre-election audacity tale, has come to mean something completely opposite by its adjunct use in the current administration.  The four letter word is now used to flip-off hard-working Americans: ”HOPE OFF.”  (The video shows you the insufferable superior mindset of a progressive.)

It would be an audacious concept for the current Democratic administration and congress to stop spending money that we as a nation do not have. Government does not create wealth. Government does not earn money (simple interest at best) nor does it operate to maintain a profit. Our government does not operate within a balanced budget. Our government only spends, spends, and spends your hard-earned money. Unbelievably, there are people who continue to vote for these spenders, spenders who ‘buy’ the voter what they want at the moment. There are people who vote for spenders, spenders who continually waterboard the American people with debt.

Clearly, if I were to spend money like the government does then I would be hauled into bankruptcy court and there would be no leniency whatsoever. If my spending was not controlled and budgeted to what I can pay for then I would be held accountable. Yet, there are people who continue to vote for people who spend hard-earned tax money in an out-of-control manner, day in and day out.

If the current administration wanted to spur the economy onward and upward, if it wanted to recover the American Dream machine then several courageous steps have to be taken. First, the spending must stop now. A balanced budget amendment must be passed. And, no more ‘stim’ money should be handed out (aka, buying votes for the 2010 elections:  the teacher’s union, UPS ,SEIU. etc.).

What must also happen is that payroll taxes must be cut for the next year and the Bush Tax cuts must remain forever in place and in place all across the range of incomes. Also, the corporate income tax rate must be lowered immediately to encourage businesses to grow and expand, thereby providing jobs. Doing these things will restore the marketplace and the economy. Doing these things will recover the American Dream. Government does not provide growth. Only business and free market enterprise can create growth. Without a doubt, not doing the above mentioned things will bring about the ruin of this nation. Lockstep with US government spending is the emerging American Nightmare: the ball and chain of debt and the slavery that comes with it.

Hope is not a feel-good topic in some schmaltzy campaign book written by some smarmy candidate. And, there is no audacity to hoping. Hope is part and parcel of the American Spirit. It does take audacity, though, to make the right choices for yourself and for others and to do it while you are able.

Addicted to Love

With the economy doing a head and shoulders march toward another recession, our President Obama is busy at work laying tracks for his progressive soul train and bypassing the dire economic issues at hand.  What economy?  Obama has global warming, cap and trade, education reform and a host of other subordinate issues in his docket to dabble in first.  Now, his AG Eric Holder is filing suit against Arizona’s immigration law.  Stupid move and what’s this? Obama finally joined in the battle against the gulf oil spill after James Carville read him the riot act.  Initially, Obama didn’t want the help of other nations to fix the spill.  I guess he’s too big to fail.

On the record, Obama spent his first year in office on a national health care bill and on blaming Bush. We now have a national health care that our country can not pay for and that most Americans do not want and Bush looks better than ever.   On his recent prosperity tour, Obama and his slick cohort Joe Biden proclaimed how great things are and will be in America.  His “big picture” is to campaign jobs into creation by the sheer force of his community organizer will and yet, no improvements still in the economy or in the hopes of the American people.

Obama recently let us know that some people make enough money and so he means to take the ‘excess’ from them.  This concept of taking someone’s property is stealing to God (see Commandment #8) but is re-labeled as “redistribution of wealth” by the god-man, Obama. And, he continues to verbally hammer away on big business even though big business, any business for that matter, is the cornerstone of our economy. Obama is the “fat cat” of fairness with Biblical disproportions

We have a president who inspires no confidence whatsoever.  He’s definitely not the likes of Martin Luther King or Ghandi or even a Jimmy Carter.  Jimmy Carter did not inspire confidence either, but he didn’t erode the national confidence as Obama has done and Obama’s reign of financial terror is not over. His big government Keynesian style economy is certainly more of a tyranny than any big corporation could ever become – you have to pay taxes. Economic slavery is only a jot and tittle away from becoming law.

Obama is more like a misunderstood child (Carter-like) who needs to constantly crusade in order to bolster his rolled up shirt sleeve poster boy image.  He wants to be admired and loved. He hopes there is an Oprah in all of us to coddle him.  He also believes that his image, a Harvard law grad from humble beginnings, will inspire the people to follow him. To be sure, there are lemmings still in tow. I don’t buy it and you and I can’t take it to the bank, either.  With all his highly polished learning, he only knows how to get around laws. He is incompetent as a leader.  And, he has become indecisive to a fault on crucial national issues while being dogmatically decisive on his own ideological issues, thereby creating havoc. Maybe he thinks that if he waits long enough the problem will go away. Or, another campaign is in order.  Woodrow Wilson, move over.

Obama spends a lot to time playing catch-up because he’s spends most of time tweaking his constant mutual admiration society address in front of his favorite tele-prompters:  Axelrod and Emmanuel.  He is a tireless campaigner for himself.  He wants to feel the love on the campaign trail that he doesn’t feel in the polls.  He doesn’t seem to see anything beyond those two screens or himself.  Behind the screens of this Manchurian Candidate there is a defiant scrapper (Black Panther-esque) who hones in on a certain issue of interest to himself (maybe basketball or his next golf game) and ignores everything else. He doesn’t get it. And, the American people are getting nothing but frustrated and hungry. Another great depression is headed our way if Obama remains in office.  You might as well face it – this President is addicted to love.
