Name Games

Jenny!

Name games. There’s no shortage of them.

There are Democrat initiated bills that are titled one thing and do the exact opposite of their label when enacted. For example, the Inflation Reduction Act that won’t reduce inflation and inflates government instead and the unaffordable government-growing Affordable Care Act.

There is no end to the fraud or deception perpetrated by shifty pols who shift conspicuous things to hide something else – the name shell game. And just as countless, there is no shortage of labels and vitriol applied to those who do not want to play the name shell game. Those of us questioning the ‘games’ played by those in government are now deemed as being “the biggest threat to American democracy today” – another label that, here, shifts conspicuous meaning so as to hide something else what’s going on underneath. The label barrage continues.

In Biden regime terms, we are “extremists” – [We] embrace anger, thrive on chaos and live not in the light of truth, but in the shadow of lies, per Biden’s “Soul of the Nation” harangue.

If we don’t vote for Democrat massas, we are “not black”.

In politicized DOJ terms, we, as groups of parents, are characterized as “extremist hate organizations” for showing up at school board meetings, our protests categorized as the “equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.” In other words, we are “domestic terrorists” for accepting what has always been accepted up until Democrats with stolen power said only certain things are acceptable.

In terms of the CDC, big pharma, the media, and the untested gene-altering mNRA vaccine, we are the “strongly hesitant”, “hesitant” or “hesitant” and unsure” for not embracing “the science” and becoming lab rats in a hugely suspect and, as it turns out, a hugely profitable medical experiment.

In terms of the COVIDian politicians, we are “public health” and as such we are to be managed via social experiments that include lock downs, useless masks, life-wrecking mandates, and vaccine passports.

In terms of those who spend and spend and spend, we are “taxpayers” who are obligated by law to pay “our fair share” (despite over half the nation not paying taxes). But you won’t hear this label used for us: full faith and credit – a phrase used to describe one entity’s unconditional guarantee or commitment to back the interest and principal of another entity’s debt.

Those of us who pay taxes are the surety behind the U.S. debt that pledges to fulfill its payment obligations in a timely manner. And yet the ruling class treats us like dirt, e.g., sending $100 BN of hard-earned taxpayer money to protect Ukraine’s border and leaving the southern border wide open to all kinds of opportunists (they are NOT refugees).

The ruling class, with its name shell games, continues to syphon money from us through taxation. And they also tax us with the high inflation they’ve created with their new shell game the Green New Deal. Wealth redistribution is the name of the game.

The labeling salvos continue in the media, in colleges and universities, and in social media. We are everywhere labeled “homophobic”, “transphobic”, “xenophobic”, “racist”, “white supremist”, “science denier” and on and on. The intelligentsia (not the intelligent, idealogues) will use labels to defend their projects from critical examination, e.g., one is “racist” if one disagrees with the myopic 1619 Project or the racism invoking CRT.

It’s easy to see what’s behind the pernicious labeling. There is projection, condescension, fear, insecurity, and bullying (they’ll denounce it in the school yard and dispense it in the classroom and media). Labeling is used for leverage as in a form of self-righteousness fostered by the social justice religion that gives purpose to an otherwise pointless life. A rush to judgement, ubiquitous today with the help of anonymity, is often followed with labeling.

Who are “we”?

We are ordinary “salt of the earth” people. We are simple folk. We do what we have to do and do it every day. We work. Many of us do hands-on Dirty Jobs (and so we are looked down upon by the intelligentsia ruling class).

We avoid drama and delight in simple things, like a meal with family and friends.

We do what is needed and do so without fanfare, without tweets and Instagram posts, without calling attention to ourselves.

We don’t involve ourselves in self-deception and denying the truth for a crust of bread.

We speak truth in love to our neighbor.

We pray for our neighbors and not talk about them behind their backs. We don’t scold them with labels.

We relish the good and beautiful and moments of Gold in Sand:

Gold in sand: That is what true happiness is like. It occurs at ordinary moments and does not call attention to itself, much as Dolly does not call attention to herself. And yet it is moments like these that make a life meaningful.

In novel terms, we are not the narcissistic romanticist Anna Karenina. We are Dolly Oblonsky. whose everyday goodness, ceaseless efforts for her children, and fundamental decency attract no attention, but are the most meaningful of qualities, exemplifying religious virtue and “living for the soul”.

We are the Full Faith and Credit and “Soul of the Nation”. It goes without labels.

Don’t Feed the Multiculturalists

to the boil cartoon by Eray Ozbek

When I eat at a Chinese, Thai, Mexican, Korean, Nigerian, Caribbean and you-name-it restaurant I am not force fed. I go there to freely eat the food of another culture. But for some ‘intellectual’ elites Multiculturalism is their bread and butter. And they want to force feed you and yours the same because for them-tah, tah-tah tah!-“Diversity!” has become the bread of life (think tenure).

Noted British psychiatrist and prison doctor Theodore Dalrymple (Anthony Daniels) has made a spot-on ‘diagnosis’ of the Multiculturalism doctrine. The doctor is very familiar with the bizarro world this liberal doctrine has engendered, having retired in culturally presumptuous Britain after a lifetime of up close human experience. The following quote is taken from his book “Anything Goes,” under the section “from Melting Pot to Stir-Fry”:

“Whatever our foreign policy should be-whether we believe we ought to promote the welfare of others or merely to pursue our interests-there is no reason at all for us, indeed there is no real possibility for us, to be multiculturalists at home, if by multiculturalism is meant the granting of legal and social equality, recognition and protection to all customs, traditions, beliefs and practices whatsoever of immigrants, as if multiculturalism were merely a kind of fusion cooking. Of course, we will spontaneously take from immigrants aspects of their traditions that we find congenial, but this will be an informal assimilation, not mediated by government decree. Multiculturalism as a doctrine is just another instance of the tendency of a portion of the intelligentsia to exhibit its virtue and generosity for all the world to see, as well as provide a minor if lucrative source of employment to cultural bureaucrats.

As anyone who has ever tried it knows, understanding another culture is a Herculean labour, even when the culture is comparatively close to one’s own…

In case should I be accused of insensitivity towards immigrants, I should like to point out that I am descended on both sides from refugees, whom integration, brought about informally, without any official direction, served magnificently. Multiculturalism was not a doctrine in their day, a fact for which I am grateful, for otherwise I should now be in the clutches of social workers, housing departments and assorted political entrepreneurs.” (emphasis mine)

Now, from the New World, I offer a West Coast perspective. The clarion passage exposes the Left’s need to have everyone conform to their Cult of Difference. The passage, taken from playwright David Mamet’s book “The Secret Knowledge: On the Dismantling of the American Culture,” is found in the chapter is titled “Hope and Change.” Let’s start here:

.”…To inspire the unsophisticated young to demand “change” is an easy and cheap trick-it was the tactic of the Communist Internationale in the thirties, another “movement.”

The young and spoiled, having not been taught to differentiate between impulses. Frightened of choice, they band together, dress, speak, and act alike, take refuge in the herd, and call it “individualism.” …

Why is the call (to “change”) attractive? It appeals to the Jacobin, the radical, the young, and those who never matured-the perpetually jejune of my generation. We were taught in the sixties to award ourselves merit for membership in a superior group-irrespective of our group’s accomplishments….For we were the culmination of history, superior to all those misguided who had come before, which is to say all humanity. Though we had never met a payroll, fought for an education, obsessed about the rent, raised a child, carried a weapon for our country, or searched for work. Though we had never been in sufficient distress to call upon God, we indicted those who had. And continue to do so.

(Mamet has set the stage. Now the tour de force…)

Those we loved, ‘the oppressed,” were those whose consciousness we denigrated sufficiently to presume they would believe in our pretensions. (This is why the Left prefers Arabs to the Israelis, it, mistakenly, considers Arabs backward, and, thus, stupid. And, this is also why the Left obsesses over our country being “liked.”)

But how manipulable are we? We have been exhorted and have encouraged each other to empty the national treasury, to chain our children to inflation, debt, and a descending standard of living, taxed business sufficiently to ship overseas those jobs which would support our country. And we have abdicated our position as world leader, as if our desire were not for security, but for exploitation-another example of that decried Colonialism which the left sees everywhere, which cry is the one trick of the Remittance Men who make up the United Nations.

What greater act of colonialism than to bind a segment of our own population to shame and poverty through government subsidy and by insistence that they be judged by lower standards than the populace at large? We have created a permanent underclass through the ignorant and sententious operations of the mis-educated and ignorant. And we compound the legislative enormity by insistence in education on “diversity,” and “multiculturalism.” These are a codependence similar to the insistence in the prewar south on the Biblical support for Slavery.

~~

The sleepy youth of my child said a Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of school, and then was done with it. This was a ritual acknowledgement that we lived in a good land, and in a good society, and that our elders wished us to continue it. How different from the constant insistence on the “celebration of differences” which one finds in today’s schools.

Who are the performers of this show, and for the benefit of whom?

They are parents, teachers, administrators, and school boards, indulging in a cheap orgy of self congratulation…To expand their brief (their teaching-my note) into the correction of social injustice is improper and intrusive-like the teaching of sex education: it is simply none of their business.

Diversity (and “multiculturalism”) is a pat on the head from the White members of my generation sufficiently inexperienced and self-absorbed to feel they are entitled to “bless their inferiors.”

Mamet added a footnote to the bottom of page 200. This insightful note is the reason I say “Don’t feed the multiculturalists.”

“Multiculturalism” and “Diversity”-now insisted upon as a basic tenet of education, is, of course, directed at Whites. What Black or Hispanic enclave or group insists upon the presence of Whites? Why should they? Why, then, is the White population devoted to this show-and-tell? It is the essential counterweight to affirmative action-the postmodern version of busing. The enormity of these programs is less that they, fatuously, endorse the exposure of whites to People of Color, but they operationally support the inverse, the idea that these People of Color benefit from White condescension. As such, “diversity” is the stalking horse of affirmative action-it is a happy proclamation of Black inferiority.” (all emphasis mine)

Consider that President Obama has declared, by illegal Executive fiat, amnesty for millions of illegals. As I write this, these illegals will receive Social Security numbers, welfare benefits and the whole shebang-at our economic, moral and national security expense.

These illegals won’t be required to learn English. They will not be required to read and be tested on the U.S. Constitution. They won’t be required to be in sync with American values in any way, shape or form (think Sharia Law accommodation).

These illegals won’t be ‘nationalized’ due to the national self-hatred infused throughout our land. Those in authority and those in the media and those in “white-privilege”–colonialism-Christian-Jew-Capitalism hating education positions will ‘whack-a mole’ any head that pokes itself above the surface for some non-toxic air.

Many illegals, seeking “the promise of a better life” will become willing victims of the systematic poisoning of America: “Multiculturalism” stir-fry laced with homegrown hemlock and its starchy side dish “Diversity.” Hemlock described

Political Sea Change Puts Global Warming On Ice

Yeah, it’s OK to be American once again. More importantly, it is OK to be human again (see a real human in the video above)!

Republicans were elected to become a majority of Congress.

The dehumanization of our country and its people over the past five plus years by Progressivism’s ever demanding Politburo bureaucracy must end now. No more redistributive fear mongering. No more redistributive shaming the people of this nation into a collective submission to the will of fact denying environmentalists or to political correctness or to universal healthcare or to behavioral economists who want to “Nudge” libertarian paternalism (Big Brother in Brooks Brothers clothes) onto you. No more.

The fog of war, the war against mankind (and against womankind), is beginning to lift. We can see a glimpse of America on the horizon. The flag is still standing.

It’s OK to walk out on the two-faced-mal adroit-in-denial Obama and his “my policies are on the ballot”. It’s OK to say “good riddance” to the worst Senate Leader in our nation’s history-Harry Reid. Obots, it is OK to be human again.

There should be no more scare tactic talk of world ending proportions: “global warming is the greatest threat to mankind.” No more of this Bernie Madoff “trust-me-in-this” type hoax.

As a people we can begin to safely and efficiently frack. We can mine for coal and continue to filter its combustion. We can build the Keystone pipeline, create jobs and the safe transmission of oil. We can apply for small business loans and for Tea Party non-profit status without the jack boots of the Obama Stasi stomping you into the ground. We can protect our borders from illegals carrying drugs, disease and a distaste for America. But, can we protect our borders from Obama?  God help us.

There should be no more politicization and polarization coming from the Attorney General’s office. Eric Holder has been the most egregious and unjust man to ever hold the office. Even now he is trying to influence the outcome of the Ferguson grand jury by his public inferences.

There should be no more denigration of small businesses and their owners, owners who have worked so hard for so long to build something only to have them mocked from Obama’s and his alter ego’s (Liz Warren) bully pulpits.

It is no small thing that the average age in congress is now 50 years of age instead of 62. And, it is no small thing that Congress is now to be filled with a “DIVERSITY “of women and minority Republicans: (Iowa’s Senator-elect Joni Ernst, Utah’s Mia LoveWest Virginia’s Senator-elect Shelley Moore Capito, South Carolina’s first black American Senator-elect Tim Scott; the first Indian-American Nikki Haley reelected as South Carolina’s governor). They have been elected to speak for the people.

A gentle reminder:  It is in “God We Trust” and not the Republican Party, the majority or vox populi vox dei.

The 2014 vote was vote for a return of our humanity and, knowingly or not, for a God who endowed each of us-not collectivism’s bureaucracy-with natural rights and their guardian angel responsibilities

The previous majority party, the “hear no evil, see no evil” party stomped their feet and endlessly spoke evil of the generous job-creating KOCH brothers. That majority didn’t listen to the people or to God. We have paid an enormous price for their childish obstinacy.

2014: Hope has found its needed change – a sea change that should lift all boats.

VIDEO: “Stupid voters” would have killed Obamacare

The Vision of the Anointed is Our Nightmare; Ivy League Progressives and Creeping Racism

Ferguson, Missouri; Michael Brown; the race industry’s huckster’s ‘Reverends’ Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson; “No Justice, No Peace”.

Should we listen to and embrace the inflammatory NeveReverending racial rhetoric that bellows out from under a sheep skin, rhetoric that leads to societal schism? OR, should we listen to and follow the wise words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s niece Dr. Alveda King as she says: “Know peace and you’ll know justice”? You tell me.

And, should Obama be just as arrogant as President Lyndon Johnson?

Since the earliest days of my youth I have been seeking wisdom, knowledge and a good understanding. This pervasive endeavor was birthed in me as my mother read from the book of Proverbs at the dinner table each night after dinner.

Please, please, please sit down with your coffee and listen to the wisdom, clarity and common sense that Thomas Sowell brings to the issues of race, affirmative action, minimum wage, the negative effects of today’s intellectualism, multiculteralism, social justice, environmentalism, political correctness, diversity and a host of other hot-button cultural and economic topics. You will be doing yourself a favor – wisdom is like that.

Wisdom’s, Rebuke (Proverbs Chapter One)

Out in the open wisdom calls aloud
she raises her voice in the public square;
on top of the wall she cries out,
at the city gate she makes her speech:

“How long will you who are simple love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate knowledge?
Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
will make known to you my teachings.
But since you refuse to listen when I call
and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand,
since you disregard all my advice
and do not accept my rebuke,
I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you;
I will mock when calamity overtakes you—
when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

“Then they will call to me but I will not answer;
they will look for me but will not find me,
since they hated knowledge
and did not choose to fear the Lord.
Since they would not accept my advice
and spurned my rebuke,
they will eat the fruit of their ways
and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.
For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,
and the complacency of fools will destroy them;
but whoever listens to me will live in safety
and be at ease, without fear of harm.”

America’s ‘DeValued’ Moral Currency

Pervasive throughout our land is the avoidance of asking the hard questions.  We shun the real questions about life and death and about God.  We do not want to talk “good and evil.”  We glibly talk about body and soul, about reason and revelation, about eternity and time.

The other day I happened to watch The Lord of the Rings (LTR):  The Return of the King.  Putting the above statement into LTR terms, we want to live peaceably in the shire without ever having to venture out and deal with the Ring, a Ring which has consequential power over us. We may say to ourselves, “Why destroy the ring when we don’t know for sure it exists? We may have thoughts that all that the shire presents to us is all there is to life. We will go on with our quietude in order to avoid conflict and to live peaceably. We choose society’s ‘safe’ surroundings and its costly ‘insurance’ policies to avoid the dangerous quest that truth demands of us. We fear what it might take to make the journey.  We fear we will lose ourselves on the way and never return to the shire. We fear, we fear and we fear again.

We fear conflict.  And this is because inherent in conflict are the morals or ethics that each of the disparate parties brings with them. Conflict is the evil we most want to avoid.  Our “dialectics” begin with opposites and often end in synthesis or in the exclusion (or boycott) of the ‘other’.  We will seek out the ‘no-fault divorce’ of our language from its historical meaning. We give a pass to “Political-Correctness” (PC) because PC talk bypasses truth and goes straight to a word originally devoid of any value in and of itself but now given full political power: “diversity.”

With the acceptance of “diversity,” also a code-word for “whatever” or “it-depends,” moral relativity’s child, lawlessness, increasingly becomes a de facto way to govern and self-govern. Yet, “Wisdom shouts in the street, She lifts her voice in the square; At the head of the noisy streets she cries out; At the entrance of the gates in the city She utters her sayings…”

As we go on and find more and more moral conflicts and in order to avoid angst we find it easier to believe nothing of import so that we do not have to fear disagreement, ostracism or even death for what one believes. And because we do not believe in anything then we cannot be responsible for outcomes. Nihilism’s union with materialism begets the DNA of nihilism – lives drained of any meaning other than the moment. In fact, we are told duplicitously “to live in the moment.”

To choose to believe nothing means that absolute truth is discharged from our lives.  Its voice is no longer heeded.  In fact its voice is now being drowned out.  The commotion that you hear daily is man’s raucous resistance to leaving the shire ~ his tweeting and texting of empty words, the ever streaming pop/rock music filling the void, the Surround sound of ubiquitous blaring entertainment.  It is as if men and women were walking around in the dark calling out to each other and never finding the light switch. They have chosen to stay in the purgatory of their fears.

The avoidance of pain and conflict has become our primary goal in life.  This is seen in the young voter’s desire for Obamacare.  The health care reform is seen by them as in line with their “values”.  The reform is also seen as providing a sense of self-esteem in that it affirms the young voters wish to avoid pain and insecurity at all costs. On the surface Obamacare appears to provide security for themselves and for others while in truth it is a compromise of what is good and what is evil – the good being the desire for your well-being and the well-being of others and the evil which is the lie that Obama and the government will somehow provide self-esteem and security for you and others and do it with altruism. Remember, God has now been replaced by social science, social science based on rationalism and egalitarianism (think John Rawls, Laurence Tribe, etc.) all under the banner of “Social Justice.”  Rationalism’s,’ “Social Justice” trumps God every time.  Social science is now becoming the creator of society’s values, e.g., God is not to be talked about in public but homosexuality must be.  All of this in spite of the fact that rationalism without revelation could never create value. As Benedict XVI said in 1969:

“What is essential is that reason shut in on itself does not remain reasonable or rational, just as the state that aims at being perfect becomes tyrannical. Reason needs revelation in order to be able to be effective as reason.”

The avoidance of truth with its inherent conflicts with other than the truth affects our relationships, our sexuality, our creativity, our culture. In place of absolute truth Americans, as mentioned, have latched on to “values.” And our new “value” system has a new way of talking:  “lifestyle”, “Be Yourself;” “Be original;” “Let go and be;”  diversity;” “I have my rights.” But now “rights” are no longer the natural inalienable God-given rights “of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”  Now “rights” have morphed into feelings worn on our sleeve.  We demand that others accept what we feel and that others be open and tolerant. This is what we value above all else. Right and wrong (and love (read not sex)) no longer have a place in our psyche. “Values” – a synthesis of good and evil dominates our diseased culture. And when we ignore serious questions we create words with synthetic meanings to describe our lives.

“Charisma” is one of those words often heard today. Charisma was once considered a God-given grace but has been used as cover for the “banality of evil” as Hannah Arendt, political philosopher, notes when talking about Hitler’s appeal.

Allan Bloom, another political philosopher, notes in his 1987 book The Closing of the American MindHow Higher Education Has failed Democracy and Impoverished the Souls of Today’s Students,Charisma both justifies leaders and excuses followers.  The very word gives a positive twist to rabble-rousing qualities and activities treated as negative in our constitutional tradition.  And it s vagueness makes it a tool for frauds and advertising men adept at manipulating images.” Consider that both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama have both been called charismatic leaders.

In the introduction to his book, Bloom writes about what he sees in the classrooms of higher education:

“There is one thing a professor can be absolutely certain of:  almost every student entering the university believes, or says he believes that truth is relative….They are unified only in their relativism and their allegiance to equality….They have been equipped with this framework early on, and it is the modern replacement for the inalienable rights that used to be the traditional American grounds for a free society…The danger they have been taught to fear from absolutism is not error but intolerance.  Relativism is necessary to openness; and this is virtue, the only virtue, which all primary education for more than fifty years has dedicated itself to inculcating.  Openness ~ and the relativism that makes it only plausible stance in the face of various claims to truth and various ways of life and kinds of human beings ~ is the great insight of our times. The true believer is the real danger.  The study of history and culture teaches that all the world was mad in the past; men always thought they were right, and that led to wars, persecutions, slavery, xenophobia, racism, and chauvinism.  The point (now) is not to correct the mistakes and really be right; rather it is not to think you are right at all.”  (emphasis mine)

In a later chapter titled The German Connection, Bloom relates how Nietzsche, Heidegger, Hegel, Weber, Freud have influenced American thinking.  Americans, within a “pro-choice” democracy, have assimilated this German thinking sometimes turning it on its head.   Bloom writes,

“…there is now an entirely new language of good and evil, originating in an attempt to get “beyond good and evil” and preventing us from talking with any conviction about good and evil anymore.  Even those who deplore our current moral condition do so in the very language that exemplifies that condition.”

“The new language is that of value relativism and it constitutes a change in our view of things moral and political as great as the one that took place when Christianity replaced Greek and Roman paganism.” (empahsis mine) …

“Value relativism can be taken to be a great release from the perpetual tyranny of good and evil, with its cargo and shame and guilt, and the endless efforts that the pursuit of the one and the avoidance of the other enjoin. Intractable good and evil cause infinite distress – like war and sexual repression – which is almost instantly relieved when more flexible values are introduced.  One need not feel bad about or uncomfortable with oneself when just a little value adjustment is necessary.  And this longing to shuck off constraints and have one peaceful, happy world is the first of the affinities between our real American world and that of German philosophy in its most advanced form, given expression by the critics of the President’s speech.”

Here Bloom is referring to the clamor arising when President Reagan referred to the Soviet Union as the “evil empire.”  When yet at another time Reagan said that the Soviets had “different values,” this statement was met “at worst with silence and frequently with approval,” thus revealing our loathing of absolutism in the former statement.

At the beginning of the chapter Values, Bloom, relates, “We have come back to the point where we began (in the book), where values take the place of good and evil.” (emphasis mine)

And so like Gollum we place the utmost value on the ring of power, becoming blind to its tyranny over us. Along with the ring we call our values “My Precious.”  Under the yolk of temporal “values” and without facing the serious questions of life we lose ourselves, we lose the real.  We lose love, romance, culture, art ~ everything that gives meaning to life.

Love or charity, a virtue which must be constantly worked at, is replaced with ‘sexual rights.’ Consider that in our culture sexual activity is not to be repressed or self-controlled but rather it is to be given preeminent unrestrained “value.” Think Sandra Fluke and contraception. Think in-your-face homosexuality. Does America “confirm her soul in self-control” or not?

Romance, apart from truth is portrayed in movie after movie as just a response to nihilism. Nowhere to be found is the expectation, the unrequited desire and the hoped-for revelation of real romance. Without absolutes there can be no true romance.

We are a culture that seeks therapeutic counseling.  Yet modern psychology, the sworn enemy of shame and guilt, refuses to talk about good and evil and therefore offers nothing for the soul. Freudian psychology only brings the patient back to repressed sex.

Modern art has nothing of consequence to offer. Consider the pop art of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.

Deafening music, pop or rock, pummels our ear drums daily evoking barbaric passions and depriving the soul of its senses.

Tattoos deface our bodies so as to reveal our disdain for the discipline that purity of mind and body requires. Inking is given the (non-)value of counter-culture and rabble-rousing.

Religion, wherein serious questions are faced, is being replaced by positive thinking as preached from the temples of TV.

In view of the fact that our nation is becoming increasingly devoid of absolutes and truth while at the same time becoming increasingly laced with relativism and sliding scale “values” consider this:

Jesus, the Son of the Living God and The Way, the Truth and the Life says, “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Free from what? Free from fear.  All fear:  the fear of the unknown, the fear of facing ultimate accountability, the fear of death, the fear of loss and personal suffering, the fear of evil.  Jesus’ perfect love casts out all fear. Because of this we can face the serious questions of life head-on knowing that God ~ Father, Son and Holy Spirit love us, that They stand with us and that Jesus has gone before us through the same difficult places. Seek Him and He will be found.

Going back to the LTR analogy do you remember how Frodo and Sam and the rest rejoiced that the ring had been destroyed, that their arduous life and death journey had been accomplished? Their courage and resoluteness saved the shire, themselves and Middle Earth even while the others in the shire had no clue as to what was going on.  You and I must do the same.

The Right Kind of Diversity

“Diversity” IS Suppression!

This is messed up!

Sowell Man Friday

Here are just a few insightful quotes from Thomas Sowell’s new book, The Thomas Sowell Reader.  I highly recommend this down to earth book by Thomas Sowell, economist.  These quotes are to be found in the chapter Random Thoughts.  As you will see, the quotes are apropos for today’s political scene and the profligate Left.

“Many of those people in the so-called “helping professions” are helping people to be irresponsible and dependent on others.”

“Politics is the art of making your selfish desires seem like the national interest.”

“People who cannot be bothered to learn both sides of the issues should not bother to vote.”

“”Funding” is one of the big phony words of our times – used by people too squeamish to say “money” but not too proud to take it, usually from the taxpayers.”

“Envy plus rhetoric equals “social justice.”

“The national debt is the ghost of Christmas past.”

“Historians of the future will have hard time figuring out how so many organized groups of strident jackasses succeeded in leading us around by the nose and morally intimidating the majority into silence.”

“Those who want to take our money and gain power over us have discovered the magic formula:  get us envious or angry at others and we will surrender, in installments, not only our money but our freedom.  The most successful dictators of the 20th century – Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao – all used this formula, and now class warfare politicians are doing the same.”

“No matter how much people on the left talk about compassion, they have no compassion for the taxpayers.”

“Too often what are called “educated” people are simply people who have been sheltered from reality for years in ivy-covered buildings.  Those whose whole careers have been spent in ivy-covered buildings, insulated by tenure, can remain adolescents on into their golden retirement years.”

“Some ideas sound so plausible that they can fail nine times in a row and still be believed the tenth time.  Other ideas sound so implausible that they can succeed nine times in a row and still not be believed the tenth time.  Government controls in the economy are among the first kinds of ideas and the operations of the free market are among the second kind.”

“Much of what are called “social problems” consists of the fact that intellectuals have theories that do not fit the real world.  From this they concluded that it is the real world which is wrong and needs changing.”

“Egalitarians create the most dangerous inequality of all – inequality of power.  Allowing politicians to determine what all other human beings will be allowed to earn is one of the most reckless gambles imaginable.”

“The people I feel sorry for are those who do 90 percent of what it takes to succeed.”

“Have you ever heard a single hard fact to back up all the sweeping claims for the benefits of “diversity”?

“A careful definition of words would destroy half the agenda of the political left and the scrutinizing evidence would destroy the other half.”

Hope for What and Change to What?

“…And we have abdicated our position as a world leader, as if our desire were not for security, but for exploitation – another example of that decried Colonialism which the Left sees everywhere…What greater act of colonialism than to bind a segment of own population to shame and poverty through government subsidy and by the insistence that they be judged by lower standards than the populace-at-large? We have created a permanent underclass through the ignorant and sententious operations of the mis-educated and ignorant. And we compound the legislative enormity by insistence in education on “diversity” and “multiculturalism”. These are a codependence similar in the prewar South on the Biblical support of Slavery.”
….
“Diversity” (and “multiculturalism”) is a pat on the head from the White members of my generation sufficiently inexperienced and self-absorbed to feel they are entitled to “bless their inferiors.”
