This published World Economic Forum slogan, derived from a reposted blog essay by a Danish politician titled “Welcome to 2030. I own nothing, have no privacy, and life has never been better,” embodies a vision of doing away with the ownership of private property and autonomy in favor of a shared and planned economy overseen by the “providence” of WEF elites.
The proposed systems or platforms would provide technological access to needed resources, thereby providing gratification – so says the Dane. What is not said: in order to produce a hyper-egalitarian world, such comprehensive oversight of humans would require the beating down, leveling, debasing, and tyrannizing of the humans into thinking and accepting what is doled out in terms of what is valued per the elites.

The overlords of the modern bureaucratic state (presumptuously) use rational control to solve all problems with (smug) amoral certainty. Rational control?
According to Mansfield, modernity is intrinsically linked to Machiavelli. . .
Rational control depended on ending irrational control, meaning custom, which includes social mores, institutions, and “God or the gods.” Rational control requires our liberation from the divine; humanity itself serves as a principle of order, asserting “human rights as against divine rights.” Moral custom can survive the taming of the gods, however, so morality must also be placed on a rational basis. For Machiavelli, princes must learn “how to be not good.” Ancient philosophers constructed utopian principles, but moderns take guidance from the “effectual truth” of action. The ruthless doing of “the necessary” establishes and preserves the city.

The WEF’s Brave New World kind of slogan, with its enchantment of fulfillment via a Soma-like numbing- homogenizing process that divests the individual of all worldly (and otherworldly) concerns, I read as “rational control” ending “irrational control.” The ownership of inherited values and identity from the older cosmic order that included the transcendent Overworld is to be exchanged for the management of affairs by the realpolitik of “princes.” Their new modes and orders will displace what came before, replace the “ought” with the “is,” and effect the ruthless doing of “the necessary” via devices with avatars, apps and AI.
(Our world has many glory seeking manipulative “princes.” They rule their principalities in the WEF, the EU, and the UN. They rule in city, state, and federal government. They are the tech bros pushing AI and data centers down our throats.)
“You will own nothing and you will be happy”represents the presumed gratifying effects of rational control giving materialism and science unquestioned authority over our lives to produce “effectual truth” outcomes. Subjects of the slogan are to sell their souls to the “princes” of this world to make way for “man’s freedom … to answer his own needs with his own arms.”
Those enchanted by a managed existence absent of meaning and free will, such as the Danish politician, are apparently OK with a world that is increasingly disconnected from “the past, people, place, and prayer” and increasingly connected to “science, self, sex, and screens” (Paul Kingsnorth, Against the Machine).
Kingsnorth might not have needed to define each of his S’s, but he does: Science gives us a “non-mythic” story of our origins; “the highest good is to serve the self”; sex is an “affirmation of individual identity”; and the screen is “both our main source of distraction from reality and the interface by which we are directed into the coming post-human reality of the machine.”
I view such world as cold and indifferent, in a calculating, utilitarian, mechanistic, ad-addled, app-addled, drug-addled, increasingly violent, and wretched way.
Those enchanted by a dystopian existence are apparently OK with living in a pathological environment, one that has “almost no qualities of a sane, wise, productive, creative environment that we would wish for ourselves” (Iain McGilchrist).
“You will own nothing and you will be happy” is scientific reductionism’s disenchantment of the world.
Goethe [sought a method that, in his words] “did not treat of nature as divided and in pieces, but presented her as working and alive, striving out of the whole into the parts.” The first thing we notice here is the reversal of perception: not from the part to the whole, but from the whole into the parts. Goethe was someone who could see the wholeness in nature directly, and, furthermore, had specific practices that could lead to the ability to do so.
C. S. Lewis, in English Literature in the Sixteenth Century (1954), wrote that no longer is the universe thought of as an orchestra “tingling with anthropomorphic life, dancing, ceremonial, a festival.” Now it is thought of in terms of a machine. In terms of language, Lewis’ understood that

Below, two poets, a professor of Medieval and Renaissance Literature, a modern playwright and a psychiatrist/neuroscientist account the withdrawing from the ages-old animating symphonic signal (objective values of truth, beauty, and goodness) toward modern machine noise (amoral realpolitik’s ruthless doing of “the necessary”):

In 1867, Matthew Arnold wrote a poem about the decline of religious belief in mid-nineteenth-century Britain. Dover Beach speaks of a sea change during the Victorian era: the rising tide of scientific discovery and the withdrawing “sea of faith.” He saw Christian faith increasingly challenged by the influences of materialism and scientific discoveries.
Dover Beach portrays the effect with words describing loss and alienation from what had been so encompassing:
The Sea of Faith Was once, too, at the full, and round earth’s shore Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled. But now I only hear Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar, Retreating, to the breath Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear And naked shingles of the world.

T. S. Eliot’s 1922 poem The Waste Land, written in the wake of WWI, describes the barrenness and alienation of modern life. With a collage of cultural allusions, Eliot portrays modern society as shallow, the rich spiritual and cultural landscape of the past reduced to rubble. Society, he writes, is dealing with “A heap of broken images.”
What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man, You cannot say, or guess, for you know only A heap of broken images, where the sun beats, And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief, And the dry stone no sound of water.

Jason M. Baxter, in his essay “Evil Enchantment” versus Platonic Vision: Dante, Lewis, and the Weight of Glory,” writes of professor C.S. Lewis’ take on the negation of goodness referencing a compilation of Lewis’ sermons tiled Transposition (1944) and his book The Abolition of Man (1943):
“The oxford don consistently used the metaphor of a bad spell, arguing that modernity had cast an “evil enchantment of worldliness” that makes the weight of goodness fell less substantial. In fact, Lewis argued that there was a kind of historical chasm or gaping cultural canyon that separated modernity from anything that came before: what he called the “Great Divide.” . . . This is, in part, because our image of the cosmos and our understanding of its operations are radically different from that of the pre-modern world. Our metaphors have changed: “The fundamental concept of modern science is, or was until very recently, that of natural ‘laws.’. . . In medieval science the fundamental concept was that of certain sympathies, antipathies, and strivings inherent in matter itself.” Modern man speaks about how a falling rock obeys a law of nature; medieval man spoke of the rock as desiring or longing to return to its natural place, like a pigeon returning to its nest by a homing instinct. Pre-modern metaphors were animated; the cosmos seemed saturated with presence, soul, and being. In contrast, modern man prefers inorganic metaphors borrowed from the steady, unwavering movement of machines. (My emphasis.)

The first is that we began to imagine the sources of deep meaning were located within, not without. As Charles Taylor has put it, we “conceive of ourselves as having inner depths. We might even say that the depths which were previously located in the cosmos, the enchanted world, are now more readily placed within.” Lewis wrote about this displacement of meaning in his impassioned critique of modern education, The Abolition of Man.”

The Abolition of Manwas published in 1943. Three lectures by C.S. Lewis form the book: Men Without Chests, The Way, and The Abolition of Man.
In identifying the pathologies of the age, Lewis warned about the consequences of doing away with ideas of objective value and natural law. Moral relativism, he claimed, would-result in the Abolition of Man and Men Without Chests. He defended the existence of a moral consensus among mankind that transcends cultures, polities, and historical epochs.
Lewis sought to reenchant the world with his fiction: The Space trilogy, Till We have Faces, The Chronicles of Narnia and other works.
In a 1946 essay “Talking about Bicycles” Lewis wrote about how understanding changes in terms of “four ages about nearly everything.” He gave them names: the unenchanted age, the enchanted age, the disenchanted age, and the reenchanted age.
We are in a disenchanted age.
Where do values come from?
British playwright and screenwriter Tom Stoppard (1937-2025) was known for plays that are both comedic and philosophical.
This is true of one of his most famous plays, the 1966 absurdist tragicomedy Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Two minor characters from Shakespeare’s Hamlet become main figures in a play ‘outside’ the narrative of Shakespeare’s Hamlet (which has a play within a play).
Part Shakespearean tragedy, part Laurel and Hardy comedy routine, part Waiting for Godot absurdity, Tom Stoppard’s masterful debut play calls fate, free will, art, reality, communication, and the very constructs of theatre into question, all the while leading two most honorable, adventurous, brilliant, and inept characters on their path to their unfortunate, unavoidable, infamous fate.
His 1972 play Jumpers “intertwines high-minded discussion with broad comic absurdity.” Stoppard “explores and satirizes the field of academic philosophy by likening it to a less-than-skillful competitive gymnastics display.” It is set in a university “where philosophy has become a battleground rather than a search for truth.” It is a bewildering world of pragmatists and relativists where logic has confounded belief in moral absolutes. The play raises questions of “What do we know?” and “Where do values come from?”
Stoppard’s 2015 play The Hard Problem again deals the ultimate source of objective goodness and value.
In constructing Hilary, Stoppard explains, “I wanted to write a character who is good—not goody-goody—and believes that goodness has an objective reality which is not captured by, explained by, or defined by evolutionary science, by evolutionary psychology, by evolutionary biology, by neo-Darwinism.” Hilary’s faith is ridiculed by her colleagues—but they can’t fully refute her stances. Stoppard investigates the interplay of faith and fact, irrationality with would-be rational behavior. How would neuroscientists definitively prove that every instinct is chemical, explicable, and geared for survival? And what happens to our beliefs when science can’t hold all the answers? Can some ideas only be understood through an unquantifiable intuition?

In a world driven by empirical data, Hilary is a controversial figure—she argues passionately in favor of free will, defends altruism as more than self-interest, and believes in God, much to the consternation of her materialist fellow scientist and occasional lover Spike. And it gradually emerges that Hilary’s stances are informed, in part, by personal reasons: at age 15, she had a baby and made an adoption plan, and now prays for her daughter as she wonders what became of her.
We are living in a pathological environment

All these things that used to be taken for granted are now robbed of us and it’s no surprise that responses are massive existential anxiety, depression, suicidal thinking, a sense of hopelessness, complete loss of meaning. . . it is a complete tragedy because it doesn’t have to be like that. We need to break out of the prison we have made for ourselves.”

Ultimate Meaning with objective standards for goodness and value is being explained away by neuroscience reductionist claims that meaning comes down to brain chemistry and atoms. Is life to be understood using only the science text book of humans (which scientism perverts for “effectual truth” outcomes) and not the gestalt of human consciousness as found in poetry (that provides meaning)?
Admittedly, there is a lot to ponder here.
As I have written before, I am an autodidact. I have no degree. I read and study that which interests and concerns me. Then, I put it down in words. The above is not some term paper to be graded. The above is what I have come to understand: what I was looking for since my earliest days, since The Day the Music Died.
It wasn’t until I reached my 70s that I understood the loss of connection to true mythos and the orchestra “tingling with anthropomorphic life, dancing, ceremonial, a festival.”
“Machiavelli announces his break, indeed his repudiation of all those who have come before, all those who have come before. He both replaces and yet reconfigures according to his own lights, elements from both the Christian empire and the Roman republic, to create a new form of political organization distinctly his own.” (This description of Machiavelli could be describing today’s Progressive politicians and many church organizations!)
(This being Memorial Day weekend, I doubt that the “princes” of this world will honor the fallen. They’ll be busy barbecuing and planning their next doing of “the necessary.”

The modern state increasingly treats culture not as an independent civilizational inheritance deserving protection but as raw material to be supervised, corrected, and ideologically aligned. So, when you heard Kamala Harris talk about “price controls” what did you think?
If on the Left and a Progressive, you might agree with the fiery rhetoric of politicians Kamala Harris, AOC, Liz Warren, et al. pronouncing corporations and grocers as “price gouging greedy bastards” and that they need to be controlled. You would be OK with government intervention.
If on the Right and a conservative, then you would balk at “price controls” talk. You want the government to be hands off knowing that when government gets involved a great imbalance is thrown into the market. You understand that politicians do not know how to solve inflation. They just create more problems with their fixes’, including price fixing and price freezing.

It’s bad enough (terrible, really) that the U.S. Treasury and the Fed mess with the economy, making the rich richer, the rest of us poorer, and throwing our future up in the air with their ‘adjustments’.
Remember the 2007-2008 financial crisis. The Fed created the real estate bubble. By lowering interest rates to record lows it drove a huge increase in home prices as many jumped on board the balloon ride.
The home lending market “financialized” high-risk subprime mortgages to low-income homebuyers. Wall Street firms became heavily involved in collateral debt obligations (CDOs) and mortgage-backed securities (MBSs).
The housing boom in the early to mid-2000s became extremely unstable as interest rates increased on ARMs and housing prices began to fall. Many subprime borrowers began to default on their payments. As a result, financial institutions worldwide suffered severe damage. There was an international banking crisis. On September 15, 2008 the Wall Street brokerage firm Lehman Brothers sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The subprime mortgage crisis devastated financial markets and contributed to the biggest economic downturn since the Great Depression. Read or see The Big Short for a sense of that economic disaster.
It’s not just the economic czars of the U.S. Treasury and Fed that screw things up. Congress not long ago passed spending bills with the Orwellian names “Cares Act” and “Inflation Reduction Act.” Both Acts have added to a massive deficit that is financed by the Fed’s creation of new money which increases the money supply and ergo inflation, the “price gouging” culprit that “price controls” would only exacerbate because nothing happens in isolation.
We don’t have inflation because the people are living too well. We have inflation because the government is living too well. -Ronald Reagan, during the 1980 presidential debate with Jimmy Carter.
Talk of “price controls” is nothing more than government avoiding accountability for its lack of spending control and its disruptive fiscal policies. And when you don’t understand that the seemingly complex and multitudinous causes of inflation boil down to too much money chasing too few goods and you are insulated from consequences, you continue the “price controls” rhetoric. You go on picking winners and losers.

I raise the “price controls” issue as a way to raise awareness as to how our lives, our monthly bills, are influenced by outside forces and to address an ominous scenario on the horizon: a dictated, regimented, and authoritarian economy is in the works to “price control” us into place.
Wherever you are on the spectrum of “price controls” – hearing what you want to hear or hearing alarm bells – be aware that The Great Reset’s Globalist policies are a monolithic version of Kamala’s “price controls.” They encompass not just how businesses do business (who to employ, for how much, social and environmental impact, etc.) but what is to be valued – by everyone.
Simply put, our ‘betters’ will determine who does what and why. They will “price control” our lives with their values. That Kamala mentioned “price controls” shows that she was signaling Big Brother intimidation – pressure on specific industries against specific price increases. This same bullying will be exponentially greater under The Great Reset globalist ‘economy’.
Under The Great Reset, we will be made to swallow an alphabet soup of “price control” values and the institutions producing them, including DEI, CRT, ESG, LGBTQ by the UN, WEF, and WHO.
We will be told to value safetyism and therefore to prioritize world health at all costs to our individual liberty, national sovereignty, common sense, and actual science. We will be made to value One Health.
Who can forget the COVID madness? Lockdowns, closed schools and churches, forced vaccines, families separated, businesses destroyed. All the COVID mandates were price controls. Government mandated value.
The World Health Organization is scrambling to push a “Pandemic Agreement (Treaty)” – a global health control agenda that will override U.S. sovereignty. The WHO wants unprecedented power to declare “health emergencies” whenever they choose. And that could mean forced vaccines, lockdowns, and sweeping mandates—all justified under the guise of a so-called “emergency” of whatever nature.
The WHO Pandemic Treaty would give these Global Elites the power to:
-Globally authorize untested vaccines and pandemic products, pressuring governments to purchase and enforce their use on you, your family, and your friends.
-Dictate when and where you can travel, what you can eat, whether you can gather for worship, and even what you’re allowed to say online.
-Strip away your country’s ability to decide how to respond to future health crises, putting these decisions into the hands of WHO bureaucrats who do not represent you.
Again, if you are on the Left, recent history shows that you were OK with Big Brother forcing people to wear masks, social distance, and be vaccinated. And, if people didn’t obey, you were OK with people losing their jobs, businesses being fined and shuttered, and the COVID-positive being sent off to quarantine camps.
People were to be isolated, given only food and some cleaning supplies. They would be banned from participating in any religious services. The plan included contingencies for preventing suicide. There were no provisions made for any legal appeals or even the right to legal counsel.
If you are on the Left, you believe in forced degrowth because of a “climate crisis.” You follow “the science” wherever it goes. You believe in censorship, and everything else that “price controls” people. A Karen on the Left ‘price controlled’ the life of Peanut the squirrel.
If you are on the Left, you are OK with the Globalist agenda of the UN, WEF, and the WHO. You are OK with tyranny being priced in to all you do.
If you are not on the Left and are an independent critical thinker and have expanded your personal bandwidth to include history, you are aware that there are those who, in the bubble of their superior intellectual, moral and humanitarian enlightenment, see themselves in a superior position to make choices for you and me. If they can elevate choices to an existential level (pandemic, climate, etc.) then they believe they have a right to do so. Tyranny will be priced in.
Will the Fed convert the U.S. Dollar to Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)? If so, it would be only a matter of time before CBDCs are linked to a global database controlled by the UN, IMF, the WHO, or God forbid, the WEF.
I write this to warn Christians about what is ahead. Stop looking for Signs of the End Times in the Mideast. Forget the “Rapture” and “Left Behind” fantasies. Get prepared for the onslaught of “price controls.” Christians will be put under immense pressure to conform to the imposed values. Know what you will do when that happens. And get prepared for the Lord’s return. “Stay alert. You have no idea when the Lord might arrive. (Matt. 25: 1-13)

It’s the beginning of September and the neighborhood is showing signs of Halloween. The season of dabbling in fear for fun is crouching at the door ready to have you. And, so are the days of government-sponsored terror. . . again.
Remember September of 2021? `The trickster in the White House backdoored the use of OSHA to ensure that all workers in companies with 100 or more employees were either fully vaccinated [with the unholy mRNA serum] or submitted to weekly testing and mandatory masking? Members of the military and hospital workers were forced to take the jab. No exemptions allowed. Never forget. Our government, spooks and all, hasn’t forgotten either.
It/They/Them created a reason for their dabbling-in-fear seasons: obsessing about personal health.

Tell me. If your only tool is public health admin, then is everything a potential health issue? It would seem so based on the almost unlimited scope of the CDC’s Social Determinants of Health.
Social determinants of health (SDOH) are “non-medical factors that influence health outcomes. They are the conditions in which people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age, and the wider set of forces and systems shaping the conditions of daily life” [where martial law could be employed]. (Emphasis mine.)
Note how overreaching and potentially meddlesome the CDC approach is to our lives. The wider set of forces and systems shaping the conditions of daily life could be construed as anything including climate, guns, access to capital, what is taught in schools [CRT, LGBTQ+], how businesses are structured [DEI, ESG, tied to government, aka fascism], infrastructure [15-minute cities], religion, and much more.
The CDC, with its ties to the medical-pharmaceutical-biotech-climate industrial complex and the CIA, and with its influence on state and local government, has set itself up as pervasive authoritarian busybody/social engineers. We saw its domineering influence during season of the COVID plandemic. We will see it in this season’s government-sponsored terror.
Public health is nothing more than a mask for tyranny.
Now consider some of the track record of government agencies regarding the CDC’s Social Determinants of Health:
Mandates, locking down the economy, high energy costs, high food prices, inflation, high interest rates, and doubling the deficit with outrageous amounts of government spending – none of these government activities promoteEconomic stability. I don’t need or want more of the same. I don’t need or want the CDC or a government public health dept. or a globalist organization, for that matter, to tell me how to live as Healthy People 2030. The people of these organizations think you and I are sheep without a shepherd. I am not a lost sheep. Are you? Give me good non-scientism (apolitical) info and I’ll decide what to do.
If they ask me why I am healthy here’s what I would say:
Economic stability: I built my own economic stability with hard work, good choices, and faith in God.
Education access and quality: I am self-taught. I read and research. That has provided me with a quality education. I was able to earn 6-figures in an engineering field without a college degree (or DEI). I applied myself.
Health care access and quality: I go to the doctor for a yearly check up and blood test to check vitals. I pay the bill. I don’t look to TV or the CDC or to a public health dept. for my health recommendations or practices. I research and take care of myself.
I take lots of vitamin D and other vitamins, eat good food, exercise, take walks, go to church, listen to classical music, and pray. I keep Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin handy. I have never taken a vaccine.
Neighborhood and built environment: I’ve moved to where there are fewer Democrats. An area with Net-Zero Democrats would be great.
Social and community context: I moved out of the Chicago area a year ago to a community that, owing to civic pride among other virtues, respects others and other’s property.
Alive and well:
I am 70+ years old. I have never taken a flu vaccine, a COVID vaccine or had any vaccination since my mother took me to the doctor before I entered kindergarten back in the 50s.
I have never worn a mask except for five minutes to vote in the 2020 Presidential election (which was stolen by COVIDIAN Democrats).
I stayed away from stores, restaurants, churches, etc. that had mask and social distance requirements. For most people, freedom is choice. And freedom with good choices makes for Healthy People.

Let’s take a close look at the Life Skills of the administrative state.
At a Brownsburg Community School Corporation meeting on Monday night, the school board approved the termination or resignation of four staffers involved in a lunchroom incident where a special-needs student was mistreated and subjected to eating his own puke.
According to the Brownsburg Police Department, Seymour advised a 7-year-old Life Skills student that, if he vomited, he would have to eat whatever he threw up.
The child, on a tray provided by Taylor, indeed vomited, at which point Kanipe provided the child with a spoon.
BROWNSBURG, Ind. — A law firm representing the family of a 7-year-old special needs student who was told to eat his own vomit by school staff at Brown Elementary revealed that the student’s family wasn’t notified about the abuse until two months later when media reports shed light on the incident.
[Attorney Catherine Michael of Connell Michael Kerr LLP] said the family has only been provided limited information about the abuse but was shown a video that shows the child being provided a spoon by Debra Kanipe, a Life Skills instructional aide at Brown Elementary. In the video, both Kanipe and Sara Seymour, a Life Skills teacher, stand on each side of the student as the child is told to eat his own vomit off a lunch tray. (Emphasis mine.)
The attorneys for the special needs student in Brownsburg say this whole situation is part of a much bigger problem.
You may remember the story of a seven-year-old boy at Brown Elementary School who police say was forced to eat his own vomit by two school staffers on February 16th, all while three others stood back and watched, never reporting the situation.
Attorneys for the family, Catherine Michael and Tammy Meyer, say this doesn’t surprise them and isn’t anything new.
“Special education abuse is actually becoming far more common,” says Catherine Michael on WIBC’s Kendall and Casey show, “we’re talking about this case now, but Tammy and I have handled many cases where unfortunately, it’s not caught on camera.”

Finally admitting to the realization that intermittent wind and solar cannot hope to be feasible alternatives to natural gas, nuclear and coal continuous baseload generation, the climate schemers want us to lower our expectations going forward. Instead of them revising their “green energy” theory and plans we are told to accept a downgraded quality of life. “Would an Occasional Blackout Help Solve Climate Change?” is their answer.
Globalists and the Progressive Left insulate themselves from human suffering with a fanaticism for their problem-solving ideas. No need to lift a finger for that man lying by the side of the highway. The ideology we are proposing will take care of that.
For the Davos WEF crowd, you and I are the flyover country they jet over to powwow in the Swiss alps where they talk about how to alleviate climate change and how to make a fair and just world by curtailing access to capital and property ownership and wood-fired pizza and air conditioning and gas stove cooking and combustion engines and travel beyond a fifteen minutes and freedom and all those human things that get in the way of their plans for a better world.

This is at least my third alarm about what is coming to our shores to destroy life as we know it. Globalist overlords are intent on redistributing money, resources, and control to themselves. They use highfalutin sales rhetoric from “ESG” to “stakeholder capitalism” to “conscientious capitalism.” But all the gibberish, for those of us not in the globalist “club”, leads to “You’ll own nothing and be happy.”
Globalist overlords are intent on using every world crisis they create (pandemics and Climate Change) to “reset” the lives of people to their own vagary. They act to crush our wills and claim our children. They tell us what to think and do from sun up to sundown, everything from “Cut carbon” to “No stone-fired pizza” to “Eat bugs” to “You’ll own nothing and be happy.” And yet most Americans love their trucks, their home, and eating real meat. Most Americans have faith in God, but the intelligentsia, aka politically connected radical socialist atheists, want nothing to do with God in any form or fashion including “In God We Trust” America.
The destruction of our lives and all we hold dear is their creative inclination. The suits acting to “reset” our lives act in line with what Mikhail Bakunin, revolutionary socialist, social anarchist, and collectivist anarchist once said:

And they will creatively destroy quietly. Consider that with digital technology, no one has to be sent to a gulag or shot for not going the way of the tyrants. And so it is that we continually hear stereotypical representations of a “Climate Change Crisis”, of “Trust the Science”, of “Critical Race Theory”, of “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”, of “LGBTQ+ advocacy”, of “Environmental Justice”, and of a “Build Back Better” future.

That’s the ploy. But no one knows exactly how much carbon needs to get cut to produce results. We don’t know how much to cut, where to cut it, or why some industries need to work on this issue and others do not. Any reporting of a country’s carbon emissions cuts back to the top of the pyramid, of course, would be as questionable as the climate science data is.
And since “climate emergency” is the scheme’s appeal, unlimited draconian measures are urged and so is open-ended financing.No one knows exactly how much one should be forced to take the brunt of green agenda which would include carbon taxes, soaring energy prices, and population control. And, no one knows exactly how much one is forced to pay into the scheme. That’s the “beauty” of the wealth redistribution pyramid scheme! In return, for a(ny) price the scheme provides the pretense of climate activism while scamming the public.
Climate Recruits are led to believe that they are sending “financing to developing countries to mitigate climate change, strengthen resilience and enhance abilities to adapt to climate impacts.” Note: there’s no real product or business venture in a pyramid scheme. In the climate scheme there’s just questionable numbers coming out of a messaged computer program feeding even more questionable weather forecasting. There’s only GIGO climate data that fits the Greenies pyramid scheme narrative of “climate crisis”.

These global grifters flew in – using some 400 private jets– to tackle the “climate emergency” and commit to “finance climate action in developing countries” (with your tax money!). Carbon emissions from jet planes? No worries. These nomadic negotiators will chow down on vegan meals and use recycling containers and various “carbon offsets” for unavoidable emissions caused by the conference.
Of course, the busy bodies of Paris Agreement must also tamper with the social climate. The agreement veers into absurd political and ideological language, requiring countries to address extraneous themes like gender equity, biodiversity, poverty eradication, migrants, disabled persons, a “just transition of the workforce,” “creation of decent work,” and so on.
“A pyramid scheme” you ask? Consider that the recruits, called “stakeholders” by the WEF, expect to receive payments in terms of money and political profit from their media-generated recruits (i.e., taxpayers). When the number of new recruits (think psyop targets) fails to sustain the hierarchical payment structure the scheme collapses with most of the participants losing the money (and proposed climate bennies) they put in via taxes. Those at the top of the pyramid (and dictators) make off like bandits. In the meantime, the scheme generates wealth redistribution – from us to them.

“You will own nothing and you will be happy.”
This published World Economic Forum slogan, derived from a reposted blog essay by a Danish politician titled “Welcome to 2030. I own nothing, have no privacy, and life has never been better,” embodies a vision of doing away with the ownership of private property and autonomy in favor of a shared and planned economy overseen by the “providence” of WEF elites.
The proposed systems or platforms would provide technological access to needed resources, thereby providing gratification – so says the Dane. What is not said: in order to produce a hyper-egalitarian world, such comprehensive oversight of humans would require the beating down, leveling, debasing, and tyrannizing of the humans into thinking and accepting what is doled out in terms of what is valued per the elites.
The overlords of the modern bureaucratic state (presumptuously) use rational control to solve all problems with (smug) amoral certainty. Rational control?
R.J. Snell writing for Acton Institute regarding Harvey C. Mansfield’s recent book The Rise and Fall of Rational Control: The History of Modern Political Philosophy:
According to Mansfield, modernity is intrinsically linked to Machiavelli. . .
Rational control depended on ending irrational control, meaning custom, which includes social mores, institutions, and “God or the gods.” Rational control requires our liberation from the divine; humanity itself serves as a principle of order, asserting “human rights as against divine rights.” Moral custom can survive the taming of the gods, however, so morality must also be placed on a rational basis. For Machiavelli, princes must learn “how to be not good.” Ancient philosophers constructed utopian principles, but moderns take guidance from the “effectual truth” of action. The ruthless doing of “the necessary” establishes and preserves the city.

The WEF’s Brave New World kind of slogan, with its enchantment of fulfillment via a Soma-like numbing- homogenizing process that divests the individual of all worldly (and otherworldly) concerns, I read as “rational control” ending “irrational control.” The ownership of inherited values and identity from the older cosmic order that included the transcendent Overworld is to be exchanged for the management of affairs by the realpolitik of “princes.” Their new modes and orders will displace what came before, replace the “ought” with the “is,” and effect the ruthless doing of “the necessary” via devices with avatars, apps and AI.
(Our world has many glory seeking manipulative “princes.” They rule their principalities in the WEF, the EU, and the UN. They rule in city, state, and federal government. They are the tech bros pushing AI and data centers down our throats.)
“You will own nothing and you will be happy”represents the presumed gratifying effects of rational control giving materialism and science unquestioned authority over our lives to produce “effectual truth” outcomes. Subjects of the slogan are to sell their souls to the “princes” of this world to make way for “man’s freedom … to answer his own needs with his own arms.”
Those enchanted by a managed existence absent of meaning and free will, such as the Danish politician, are apparently OK with a world that is increasingly disconnected from “the past, people, place, and prayer” and increasingly connected to “science, self, sex, and screens” (Paul Kingsnorth, Against the Machine).
Chuck Chalberg, writing for the Imaginative Conservative:
Kingsnorth might not have needed to define each of his S’s, but he does: Science gives us a “non-mythic” story of our origins; “the highest good is to serve the self”; sex is an “affirmation of individual identity”; and the screen is “both our main source of distraction from reality and the interface by which we are directed into the coming post-human reality of the machine.”
I view such world as cold and indifferent, in a calculating, utilitarian, mechanistic, ad-addled, app-addled, drug-addled, increasingly violent, and wretched way.
Those enchanted by a dystopian existence are apparently OK with living in a pathological environment, one that has “almost no qualities of a sane, wise, productive, creative environment that we would wish for ourselves” (Iain McGilchrist).
“You will own nothing and you will be happy” is scientific reductionism’s disenchantment of the world.
Henri Bortoft writes at The Nature Institute about the 18th to 19th century German polymath Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s way of perceiving:
Goethe [sought a method that, in his words] “did not treat of nature as divided and in pieces, but presented her as working and alive, striving out of the whole into the parts.” The first thing we notice here is the reversal of perception: not from the part to the whole, but from the whole into the parts. Goethe was someone who could see the wholeness in nature directly, and, furthermore, had specific practices that could lead to the ability to do so.
C. S. Lewis, in English Literature in the Sixteenth Century (1954), wrote that no longer is the universe thought of as an orchestra “tingling with anthropomorphic life, dancing, ceremonial, a festival.” Now it is thought of in terms of a machine. In terms of language, Lewis’ understood that
“Pre-modern metaphors were animated; the cosmos seemed saturated with presence, soul, and being. In contrast, modern man prefers inorganic metaphors borrowed from the steady, unwavering movement of machines.” (Jason Baxter, “Evil Enchantment” versus Platonic Vision: Dante, Lewis, and the Weight of Glory) (The After Dinner Scholar podcast).
Many have witnessed and written about the ongoing deconstruction of our inherited perception of the cosmos.
Below, two poets, a professor of Medieval and Renaissance Literature, a modern playwright and a psychiatrist/neuroscientist account the withdrawing from the ages-old animating symphonic signal (objective values of truth, beauty, and goodness) toward modern machine noise (amoral realpolitik’s ruthless doing of “the necessary”):
“Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar”
In 1867, Matthew Arnold wrote a poem about the decline of religious belief in mid-nineteenth-century Britain. Dover Beach speaks of a sea change during the Victorian era: the rising tide of scientific discovery and the withdrawing “sea of faith.” He saw Christian faith increasingly challenged by the influences of materialism and scientific discoveries.
Dover Beach portrays the effect with words describing loss and alienation from what had been so encompassing:
The Sea of Faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth’s shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear
And naked shingles of the world.
“A heap of broken images”
T. S. Eliot’s 1922 poem The Waste Land, written in the wake of WWI, describes the barrenness and alienation of modern life. With a collage of cultural allusions, Eliot portrays modern society as shallow, the rich spiritual and cultural landscape of the past reduced to rubble. Society, he writes, is dealing with “A heap of broken images.”
What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow
Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only
A heap of broken images, where the sun beats,
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water.

Jason M. Baxter, in his essay “Evil Enchantment” versus Platonic Vision: Dante, Lewis, and the Weight of Glory,” writes of professor C.S. Lewis’ take on the negation of goodness referencing a compilation of Lewis’ sermons tiled Transposition (1944) and his book The Abolition of Man (1943):
“The oxford don consistently used the metaphor of a bad spell, arguing that modernity had cast an “evil enchantment of worldliness” that makes the weight of goodness fell less substantial. In fact, Lewis argued that there was a kind of historical chasm or gaping cultural canyon that separated modernity from anything that came before: what he called the “Great Divide.” . . . This is, in part, because our image of the cosmos and our understanding of its operations are radically different from that of the pre-modern world. Our metaphors have changed: “The fundamental concept of modern science is, or was until very recently, that of natural ‘laws.’. . . In medieval science the fundamental concept was that of certain sympathies, antipathies, and strivings inherent in matter itself.” Modern man speaks about how a falling rock obeys a law of nature; medieval man spoke of the rock as desiring or longing to return to its natural place, like a pigeon returning to its nest by a homing instinct. Pre-modern metaphors were animated; the cosmos seemed saturated with presence, soul, and being. In contrast, modern man prefers inorganic metaphors borrowed from the steady, unwavering movement of machines. (My emphasis.)

“When the animate picture of the cosmos and the organic metaphors used to describe it passed away, two other changes followed. The first is that we began to imagine the sources of deep meaning were located within, not without. As Charles Taylor has put it, we “conceive of ourselves as having inner depths. We might even say that the depths which were previously located in the cosmos, the enchanted world, are now more readily placed within.” Lewis wrote about this displacement of meaning in his impassioned critique of modern education, The Abolition of Man.”

The Abolition of Man was published in 1943. Three lectures by C.S. Lewis form the book: Men Without Chests, The Way, and The Abolition of Man.
In identifying the pathologies of the age, Lewis warned about the consequences of doing away with ideas of objective value and natural law. Moral relativism, he claimed, would-result in the Abolition of Man and Men Without Chests. He defended the existence of a moral consensus among mankind that transcends cultures, polities, and historical epochs.
Lewis sought to reenchant the world with his fiction: The Space trilogy, Till We have Faces, The Chronicles of Narnia and other works.
In a 1946 essay “Talking about Bicycles” Lewis wrote about how understanding changes in terms of “four ages about nearly everything.” He gave them names: the unenchanted age, the enchanted age, the disenchanted age, and the reenchanted age.
We are in a disenchanted age.
Where do values come from?
British playwright and screenwriter Tom Stoppard (1937-2025) was known for plays that are both comedic and philosophical.
This is true of one of his most famous plays, the 1966 absurdist tragicomedy Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Two minor characters from Shakespeare’s Hamlet become main figures in a play ‘outside’ the narrative of Shakespeare’s Hamlet (which has a play within a play).
From the play’s synopsis at Stage Agent:
Part Shakespearean tragedy, part Laurel and Hardy comedy routine, part Waiting for Godot absurdity, Tom Stoppard’s masterful debut play calls fate, free will, art, reality, communication, and the very constructs of theatre into question, all the while leading two most honorable, adventurous, brilliant, and inept characters on their path to their unfortunate, unavoidable, infamous fate.
His 1972 play Jumpers “intertwines high-minded discussion with broad comic absurdity.” Stoppard “explores and satirizes the field of academic philosophy by likening it to a less-than-skillful competitive gymnastics display.” It is set in a university “where philosophy has become a battleground rather than a search for truth.” It is a bewildering world of pragmatists and relativists where logic has confounded belief in moral absolutes. The play raises questions of “What do we know?” and “Where do values come from?”
Stoppard’s 2015 play The Hard Problem again deals the ultimate source of objective goodness and value.
Lauren Halvorsen, at Studio Theater:
In constructing Hilary, Stoppard explains, “I wanted to write a character who is good—not goody-goody—and believes that goodness has an objective reality which is not captured by, explained by, or defined by evolutionary science, by evolutionary psychology, by evolutionary biology, by neo-Darwinism.” Hilary’s faith is ridiculed by her colleagues—but they can’t fully refute her stances. Stoppard investigates the interplay of faith and fact, irrationality with would-be rational behavior. How would neuroscientists definitively prove that every instinct is chemical, explicable, and geared for survival? And what happens to our beliefs when science can’t hold all the answers? Can some ideas only be understood through an unquantifiable intuition?

In a world driven by empirical data, Hilary is a controversial figure—she argues passionately in favor of free will, defends altruism as more than self-interest, and believes in God, much to the consternation of her materialist fellow scientist and occasional lover Spike. And it gradually emerges that Hilary’s stances are informed, in part, by personal reasons: at age 15, she had a baby and made an adoption plan, and now prays for her daughter as she wonders what became of her.
We are living in a pathological environment
Iain McGilchrist – psychiatrist, philosopher and neuroscientist:
“There is no question. We are living in a pathological environment. It has almost no qualities of a sane, wise, productive, creative environment that we would wish for ourselves. It has very few of those qualities that characteristically lead to those qualities. It maximizes conflict. It incubates extreme points of view. It robs us of embodied and embedded wisdom that comes from the culture and proximity to the natural world.
All these things that used to be taken for granted are now robbed of us and it’s no surprise that responses are massive existential anxiety, depression, suicidal thinking, a sense of hopelessness, complete loss of meaning. . . it is a complete tragedy because it doesn’t have to be like that. We need to break out of the prison we have made for ourselves.”

Should we be logical positivists and base all knowledge on perceptual experience and consider metaphysical and subjective arguments not based on observable data as meaningless?
Should we live accepting that there is nothing but matter and disregard intuition or revelation for “the science?”
Is life to be understood using only the science text book of humans (which scientism perverts for “effectual truth” outcomes) and not the gestalt of human consciousness as found in poetry (that provides meaning)?
Admittedly, there is a lot to ponder here.
As I have written before, I am an autodidact. I have no degree. I read and study that which interests and concerns me. Then, I put it down in words. The above is not some term paper to be graded. The above is what I have come to understand: what I was looking for since my earliest days, since The Day the Music Died.
It wasn’t until I reached my 70s that I understood the loss of connection to true mythos and the orchestra “tingling with anthropomorphic life, dancing, ceremonial, a festival.”

He both replaces and yet reconfigures according to his own lights, elements from both the Christian empire and the Roman republic, to create a new form of political organization distinctly his own.” (This description of Machiavelli could be describing today’s Progressive politicians and many church organizations!)
(This being Memorial Day weekend, I doubt that the “princes” of this world will honor the fallen. They’ll be busy barbecuing and planning their next doing of “the necessary.”

The modern state increasingly treats culture not as an independent civilizational inheritance deserving protection but as raw material to be supervised, corrected, and ideologically aligned. The old pastoral ideal of the fulfilled and self-reliant individual citizen gradually gives way to the therapeutic subject: managed, supervised, controlled, yet perpetually assured of her freedom in “our democracy.”
A civilization survives only when there remain spheres of life politics cannot wholly absorb. Once politics becomes everything, civilization itself begins to disappear.
